This is not a surprise. The young people from the 90s are now middle aged and that's why for the first time that age group(35-54) is now supportive of it as well. And the new young people are just as supportive, actually even more supportive of gay marriage. And the old people who have always been against it the most, simply die away. People? who think the term marriage is exclusive to a certain religion never seem to be as offended when people of other religions use the term when they get married. I fully understand that not all priests want to perform a religious ceremony for gay couples. They shouldn't be forced to (I'm sure there are quite a few priests who are willing to take their place). However, you can get married without a religious ceremony and it should still be called a marriage.

@mrocker917 i had that same argument with a past president of the massachusetts log cabin. his contention was he could accomplish more for the lgbt community inside the party of hate than outside.
he made no sense to me, since only 1/4 of republicans agree with equality & little gains have been attributed to them.
all the log cabin has managed to do is alienate their own community. but then maybe there's method to their madness. i? hope i live long enough to see the fruits of their labor.
